Special Projects and Pins

There are two Special Projects this year:

  • Grand Matron’s is Foreverly House and Guardian House, each of which provide support to our homeless veterans. Particular focus is on the “Invisible Veteran”; the homeless female vet. A special pin is available for $5.00 in support of this program. The funds raised will be forwarded to Foreverly House in Ballston Spa, NY, which is the only facility in NY providing support for female veterans and their children.
  • Grand Patron’s is “Feed My Sheep”. The program supports children through a school program to provide provisions in the way of Backpacks filled with food to sustain the child through the week-end, when their family is in need of support. No child should go hungry. No child should be forced to horde food during the week, to provide for themselves or their families over the week-end. Again there is a special pin available for $5.00 to support this project. The District Deputy Grand Matrons and District Grand Lecturers have been provided a supply of pins.

We are encouraging members to reach out in their communities to find a school that supports this program and to collect and distribute items that can be used in the back-packs the schools provide. List below is suggestions. Macaroni & Cheese (Boxed); Pudding cups (unrefridgerated); microwave meals (unrefridgerated); small cereal boxes, granola and fruit bars; easy open cans of soup or fruit; tuna or canned chicken; gummy snacks individually wrapped; Apple sauce (plastic container) packets of Oatmeal; Peanut Butter, plastic containers. NOT RECOMMENDED: Candy, items in glass containers; cookies; soda.
